Gates Carbon Drive (Belt Drive)

All our bicycle frames have been designed to use the Gates Carbon Drive System. This is a belt made from strong polyurethane which provides on average twice the life time of a normal chain. 
The belt also means less maintenance as it does not have to be greased and actually weighs less than a standard chain.
All bicycles which use the Gates Belt in collaboration with Rohloff, have to first undergo stiffness tests at Universal Transmissions GmbH. This ensures that a high quality standard is met.
We have engineered all our bicycles to use this system as we strongly believe it is the technology which provides the most comfortable ride coupled with a much reduced maintenance. The same frame can also be used for a standard chain solution if that is preferred. 

As a side note, the current round the world record on a bicycle has been achieved using the Gates Carbon Drive System. James Bowthorpe broke the record by 20 days by covering 18 000 miles in 174 days.
